Securing an Endotracheal Tube with Twill Tape and a Rolling Hitch

Jeff Ward, RRT, a respiratory therapist at Mayo Clinic, demonstrates knot tying technique for securing endotracheal tubes (ETT) to prevent their displacement or accidental extubation. He will show how the rolling hitch can be tied quickly. When used with 3/8″ or ½” twill/umbilical tape, it has excellent holding force and when combined with the square knot is well suited for fixation of ETTs.
