Americans are eating and drinking too much added sugars which can lead to health problems such as weight gain and obesity, type 2 diabetes, and heart disease, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports.
Updated dietary guidelines for Americans recommend limiting added sugar to less than 10 percent of calories per day. Getting to that number may mean retraining your taste buds to appreciate the natural sweetness in real foods.
